The
Raptor and Wildlife Refuge's very own Craig Webb was awarded
the Environment Medal at News Ltd's Pride of Australia
awards in November last year. Surf champion Layne Beachley
presented Craig with the award, which he won for his tireless
efforts in the recovery and release of countless forgotten
victims, from the majestic wedge-tailed eagle to the tiniest
bandicoots.
The 2009 awards ceremony, held in Sydney's Westin Hotel
and hosted by Sarah Murdoch, was the first time the 'Pride'
had gone national and demonstrated just how well-regarded
the awards have become since their state beginnings in
2005. Readers of News Ltd's newspapers have nominated
more than 14,000 people for the awards, which News Ltd
chairman, John Hartigan, describes as being about 'the
unsung heroes of Australia... who have shown outstanding
bravery, contributed selflessly and asked for nothing
in return.'
Good one Craig! |
